Softball Recap: River Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

River Valley dropped their record down to 5-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 16-9 to the Fennville Blackhawks. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Addy Lynch made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Habel, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Fennville, they now have a winning record of 5-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Fennville's side, Lily Achterhof was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Achterhof posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cailey Mokma, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

River Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Berrien Springs on the 29th. As for Fennville, they have also already played their next game, a 19-4 defeat against Bridgman on the 29th.
