The St. Agnes Aggies will head out on the road to take on the St. Anthony Village Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Anthony Village will be up against a hot St. Agnes team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Aggies blew past Legacy Christian Academy 16-2 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Anthony Village). Everything went their way against Robbinsdale Cooper last Tuesday as they made off with a 31-2 win. The Huskies have beaten the Hawks the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hawks has come to flipping the script.
Anna Ksiazek was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Ksiazek was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other pitching news, Ellie Munson looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, St. Anthony Village let Audrey Rymer and Kayleigh McHone run wild. Rymer went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while McHone went 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one double. That home run was Rymer's first of the season. Izzy Grindeland was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
St. Anthony Village was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.
St. Agnes' record now sits at 10-2. As for St. Anthony Village, their record is now 5-2.
St. Agnes skirted past St. Anthony Village 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aggies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
