Baseball Game Preview: Queen Anne's County Lions vs. Kent Island Buccaneers

The Queen Anne's County Lions will challenge the Kent Island Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Queen Anne's County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on North Dorchester with a sharp 15-3 win on Wednesday. The Lions not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 21-1).

Ethan Keppler looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nathan Procopio was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Clough, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Queen Anne's County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kent Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Cambridge-South Dorchester get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won nine in a row.

The victory got Kent Island back to even at 6-6. As for Queen Anne's County, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
