Basketball Recap: Western Hills Comes Up Short

Western Hills lost against Shelby County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Western Hills Wolverines took a hard 88-73 fall against the Shelby County Rockets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (65), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Western Hills has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points over those games. As for Shelby County, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Hills won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Paul Laurence Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Western Hills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Shelby County, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Bullitt Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shelby County is facing Bullitt Central at the right time seeing as Bullitt Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
