Recap: Sutton Sammies vs. Blackstone-Millville Chargers
The Sutton Sammies waltzed into their match Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They greeted the New Year with with a 47-33 victory over Blackstone-Millville. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sutton also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Cam Benedict continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Benedict, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Blackstone-Millville still got an impressive performance from Brady Folster, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan McCourt, who scored six points.
Sutton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Blackstone-Millville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sutton will take on Whitinsville Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitinsville Christian and Sutton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Blackstone-Millville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Nipmuc Regional at 6:30 p.m. Nipmuc Regional presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blackstone-Millville in Massachusetts (Nipmuc Regional is ranked 84th, while Blackstone-Millville is ranked 206th).
