Baseball Recap: Danville Falls Short of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory in the Playoffs

Danville and Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Danville had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two runs.

Garrett Groce was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Jack Warner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Danville's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 8-15 when he doesn't).

This is the second loss in a row for Danville and nudges their season record down to 11-16. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Danville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they will challenge Guerin Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight.
