Softball Recap: Ballard Drops Highest Score of Season Against Male

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ballard). They blew past the Male Bulldogs 17-7 on Monday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Payton Downey and Aubrie Newton did most of the damage at the plate: Downey scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Newton scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Ryleah Lawrence was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Ballard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ballard's record now sits at 10-8-1. As for Male, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.

Coming up, Ballard will square off against Assumption at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Male, they will face off against Meade County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.7, the Green Waves 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
