Baseball Recap: Blake Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Blake was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past the Tampa Bay Tech Titans 4-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellow Jackets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Anthony Mathews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brett Valerio, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Blake's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Blake will be playing at home against Gaither at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaither is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will face off against Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chamberlain has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something Tampa Bay Tech will no doubt try to take advantage of.
