Football Recap: Surry County Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Surry County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Middlesex Chargers on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Aaron Clayton threw for 68 yards on four of 14 attempts. On the ground, Amir Beaufort rushed for 64 yards.

Jakub Bowen was a one-man wrecking crew For Middlesex. as he rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Those 91 rushing yards gave Bowen a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Surry County is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Middlesex, they will venture away from home to challenge Northumberland at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
