Basketball Game Preview: University Hawks vs. Parkersburg South Patriots

University hasn't had much luck against Parkersburg South recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The University Hawks will be playing at home against the Parkersburg South Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

University is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Andrew Jackson, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (University was ranked 17th). University took a hard 56-41 fall against Andrew Jackson last Monday.

Despite their defeat, University saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bri Fox, who posted 13 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Fox is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Simpson, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Parkersburg South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of James Monroe.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Parkersburg South, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
