Baseball Recap: Alief Taylor Comes Up Short

Alief Taylor extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 13-2 to the Alief Elsik Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 9-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Alief Elsik, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 2-19 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Alief Elsik's part, Anthony Dominguez and Joseph Benevidez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Dominguez tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Benevidez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Alief Elsik is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-18 otherwise. At the plate, Dominguez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Benevidez went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Benevidez a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryan Lea was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Zelaya, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

While Alief Taylor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
