University Lab is 0-4 against Catholic since March of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cubs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University Lab 3.4, Catholic 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, University Lab was able to grind out a solid win over Dunham, taking the game 6-3. The Cubs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Grant Sunstrom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trey Sotile, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Shepherd Gammon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
University Lab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunham only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand St. Martin's Episcopal a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Jason Decuir tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Jude Schneider was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayes Segar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
University Lab's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 24-3.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. University Lab has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Lab came up short against Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 12-8. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
