Baseball Game Preview: Downey Knights vs. Enochs Eagles

For the second straight game, Downey will face off against Enochs. The Knights will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Downey gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Enochs by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Gus Munoz Cervantes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Daley Holmes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Downey's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Sacuskie, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Enochs is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8. As for Downey, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
