Basketball Recap: Lexington Wildcats vs. River Bluff Gators

The Lexington Wildcats won the last time they faced the River Bluff Gators, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Lexington breezed by the Gators at home to the tune of 64-26. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Gators are ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydni Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Izzy Saville was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for River Bluff, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Lexington will be playing in front of their home fans against the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. White Knoll is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. River Bluff is on the road again on Friday and plays the Fighting Green Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Aiken focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
