Baseball Game Preview: Cass Tech Technicians vs. Farmington Falcons

The Cass Tech Technicians will head out on the road to face off against the Farmington Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Farmington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cass Tech, who comes in off a win.

Cass Tech's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Taylor hitters got past them. The Technicians walked away with a 15-10 win over the Griffins on Wednesday.

Cass Tech got a massive performance out of Juan Torres, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases Torres has posted since back in April. Khari Kumasi was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Farmington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 15-3 to Bloomfield Hills.

Farmington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Axe, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Cass Tech is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-23.

Farmington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cass Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. It's a different story for Farmington, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Cass Tech's hitters?

Cass Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Farmington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Will the Technicians repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
