Pass Christian hasn't had much luck against East Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Pass Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past St. Stanislaus 56-0 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Paris Trivillion produced another solid performance throwing for 220 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, while also rushing for 66 yards and one score. Amarie James was Trivillion's top target, picking up 49 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pass Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Forrest County Agricultural on Friday as they made off with a 41-19 win. The Hornets pushed the score to 34-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Aggies had little chance of recovering from.
Pass Christian better keep an eye on Maddox Dunn. He was instrumental in East Central's win, rushing for 216 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 73 yards and one touchdown. Dunn is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 131 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Adrian Marsalis, who rushed for 93 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East Central's defense and their four sacks. Myles Coleman was especially locked on to Forrest County Agricultural's QB and sacked him twice.
East Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Pass Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pass Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 310.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pass Christian took a serious blow against East Central when the teams last played back in October of 2018, falling 56-7. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Pirates were down 35-0.
