Basketball Game Preview: Largo Packers vs. East Lake Eagles

The Largo Packers will face off against the East Lake Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Largo has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while East Lake will come in with three straight wins.

Last Friday, Largo lost to Mitchell on the road by a 72-57 margin.

Meanwhile, East Lake earned a 64-54 victory over Lakewood on Saturday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Spartans are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Lake's win came from a few key players Largo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jeremiah Cooper, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 20 points and five assists. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Bryant, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.

East Lake's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Largo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Largo came up short against East Lake in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 74-65. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of East Lake's Anthony Brown, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
