Softball Recap: Sweetwater Has No Trouble Against Grape Creek

Sweetwater got themselves on the board against Grape Creek on Tuesday, but Grape Creek never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 18-0. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

Kallie Scherwitz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Milani Torres was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Biera, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Sweetwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sweetwater's victory bumped their record up to 10-13-1. As for Grape Creek, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Sweetwater will take on Colorado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. Grape Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
