Softball Preview: Conard Red Wolves vs. East Hartford Hornets
After four games on the road, Conard is heading back home. They will take on the East Hartford Hornets at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
Conard is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Middletown on Monday. They fell just short of the Blue Dragons by a score of 4-2.
Meanwhile, everything went East Hartford's way against Farmington on Wednesday as East Hartford made off with a 20-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Hartford.
Izzy Brito was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Brito was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. She hasn't dropped below three RBI for three straight games.
In other batting news, East Hartford got a massive performance out of Vanessa Quealy, who went 4-for-4 with four runs, a triple, and two RBI. Quealy continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Eliana Tena was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Conard now has a losing record at 2-3. As for East Hartford, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
