Baseball Recap: Cloquet Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hibbing

Cloquet barely beat Hibbing the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lumberjacks blew past the Bluejackets 10-4 on Thursday. The Lumberjacks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Niko Gentilini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Brody Dushkin and Bo Harriman did most of the damage at the plate: Dushkin went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Harriman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three runs gave Dushkin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luca Gentilini, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Cloquet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Cloquet's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-10 record. As for Hibbing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Cloquet will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Esko at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Hibbing, they will square off against Hermantown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
