The Moriarty Pintos will face off against the Valencia Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Moriarty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.4 points per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Moriarty finally turned things around against Kirtland Central last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-23 victory over the Broncos.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moriarty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Wolf, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Wolf also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making ten total tackles and defending a pass. Caedon Kamplain was another key rusher, rushing for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Moriarty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Moriarty's defense and their four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Corban Scott Pearce. He has been hot , having also posted five or more total tackles the last eight times he's played.
Meanwhile, Valencia was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Albuquerque Academy 42-13.
Valencia can attribute much of their success to Aidan Harrington, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Michael Storms III, who rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Harrington has posted since back in August of 2023. Cade Ash did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 122 receiving yards.
Valencia's record now sits at 7-3. As for Moriarty, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Moriarty against Valencia in their previous meeting back in September of 2019, as the squad secured a 40-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moriarty since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
