Softball Game Preview: Sipsey Valley Bears vs. Hale County Wildcats

The Sipsey Valley Bears will head out on the road to take on the Hale County Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sipsey Valley has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 1.

On Tuesday, Sipsey Valley came up short against Northside and fell 6-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hale County). Everything went their way against Greensboro on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Briley Eaton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was JJ McDaniel, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Hale County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Hale County and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Sipsey Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Sipsey Valley couldn't quite finish off Hale County when the teams last played back in February and fell 8-6. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
