Basketball Recap: Antietam Falls Short of West Catholic in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Antietam can now relate to. They were outmatched by the West Catholic Burrs and fell 79-35. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Burrs are ranked 61st).

Despite the loss, Antietam had strong showings from Julious Williams, who shot 47% from the field on his way to 14 points, and Noel Coste, who posted 11 points. Williams is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last seven games he's played.

Antietam's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for West Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Antietam does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Catholic, they will square off against Warrior Run on Wednesday. West Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Warrior Run likes a good challenge.
