Baseball Recap: Glendora Comes Up Short

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Glendora was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars by a score of 2-1. The Tartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Brayden Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Glendora saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Jacobsen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was Jacobsen's first of the season.

Glendora's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Rancho Cucamonga, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Glendora will host Maranatha at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glendora's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Maranatha's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they will head out to square off against Lakewood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Lakewood 3.7, Rancho Cucamonga 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
