Basketball Recap: St. John Comes Up Short

St. John lost against Bishop Ryan back in March of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. John Woodchucks were beaten by the Bishop Ryan Lions 69-28. The game marked the Woodchucks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, St. John saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Simon LaRocque almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. LaRocque has been hot, having also posted three or more blocks the last seven times he's played. Ezekiel Parisien was another key player, putting up three points.

St. John's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Bishop Ryan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

St. John wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-57 loss against Velva on the 28th. As for Bishop Ryan, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Prairie/Max at 7:15 p.m. on January 7th.
