Recap: West Marion Trojans vs. Purvis Tornadoes
The West Marion Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 67-48 bruising from Purvis. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Marion in their matchups with Purvis: they've now lost six in a row.
Purvis can attribute much of their success to Jace Gipson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Robinson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
West Marion's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Purvis, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Marion's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Marion at 8:30 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully East Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. Purvis will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Collins at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
