Basketball Game Preview: Silver Valley Trojans vs. University Prep Jaguars

Silver Valley and University Prep are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Trojans will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. Silver Valley has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 207 points over their last three games.

On Wednesday, Silver Valley beat Western Christian 68-57. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Trojans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Fighting Lancers are ranked 935th).

Judah Caldwell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 31 points and 16 boards. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Javion Taylor, who shot 86% from the field on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Silver Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, University Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on Tuesday and fell 56-54. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

University Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Silver Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Silver Valley against University Prep when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 75-32 win. In that game, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 37-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
