Baseball Recap: Franklin Monroe Find Success

After losing to Covington the last time they met, Franklin Monroe decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Franklin Monroe walked away with an 11-6 win over Covington on Monday.

Brandt Filbrun was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Stebbins was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Matthew Hurley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

The victory got Franklin Monroe back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Monroe will challenge Urbana at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covington, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Tri-Village at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
