Football Game Preview: Ridgefield Tigers vs. Darien Blue Wave + Official Tickets

Ridgefield is 0-3 against Darien since December of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Ridgefield's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over McMahon. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Tigers just coasted through the last quarter.

Ridgefield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leo Moore, who rushed for 93 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

Moore was just one part of a punishing run game: Ridgefield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ridgefield's defense and their five sacks. Michael Salimbene refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Darien, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 28-0 win over Trumbull. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Wave in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Ridgefield's record is now 5-2. As for Darien, their record now sits at an identical 5-2.

Ridgefield suffered a grim 30-6 defeat to Darien in their previous meeting back in September of 2018. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
