Basketball Game Preview: Athenian Owls vs. Cornerstone Christian Cougars

The Athenian Owls will face off against the Cornerstone Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Athenian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.

Athenian took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They took down Bentley 57-40. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Owls as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They secured a 64-59 W over the Jayhawks.

Cornerstone Christian's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Athenian, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-6.

Athenian came up short against Cornerstone Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 69-65. Can Athenian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
