Casa Grande is 8-2 against Justin-Siena since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Gauchos will take on the Braves at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Casa Grande 1.9, Justin-Siena 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Casa Grande's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Petaluma on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Gauchos were not able to get on the board.
Casa Grande got a good showing from Luke Bell, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Bell gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Casa Grande saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Mercado, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Justin-Siena entered their tilt with Napa on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 5-0 shutout.
Jake Fletcher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiano Ortega, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Justin-Siena hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Napa struck out eight times.
Justin-Siena pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Casa Grande, they moved to 15-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Casa Grande has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Justin-Siena struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Casa Grande came out on top in a nail-biter against Justin-Siena in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Gauchos repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
