Basketball Recap: Washington County Comes Up Short

Washington County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Mercer County Titans on the road by a 68-53 margin. If the Commanders were looking for revenge after losing 67-38 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

It was another big night for Izzie Carlton, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 16 boards for Mercer County. With that strong performance, Carlton is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie Releford, who posted eight points along with nine boards and six assists.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Mercer County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington County will venture away from home to face off against John Hardin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercer County, they will head out on the road to square off against Pulaski County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
