Baseball Recap: Washougal Takes a Loss

If Washougal was riding high fresh off their 12-4 takedown of Hudson's Bay on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Friday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 12-4.

Rowyn Brady put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Brady was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Kadin Gibbons was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Wyatt Compher also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Washougal has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Hudson's Bay, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washougal will face off against Mark Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hudson's Bay, they will take on Hockinson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Hawks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
