Softball Game Preview: Bruton Panthers vs. Northampton Yellowjackets

The Bruton Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Northampton Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bruton is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Tabb, falling 28-6.

Zymeia Taliaferro was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Northampton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 26-3 to Lancaster.

Northampton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Caison, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Northampton's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bruton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bruton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Northampton struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Bruton's way against Northampton in their previous meeting last Monday, as Bruton made off with a 22-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
