Volleyball Recap: Dr. Maya Angelou Community Takes a Loss

After flying high against Santee last Friday, Dr. Maya Angelou Community came back down to earth. The Phoenix came up short against the Los Angeles Romans on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Phoenix haven't had much luck with the Romans recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

While Dr. Maya Angelou Community was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Los Angeles' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-18, 28-26.

Dr. Maya Angelou Community now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Los Angeles, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dr. Maya Angelou Community will welcome Manual Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Los Angeles, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reseda at 4:30 p.m.
