Basketball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

Butler lost against Independence last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Butler Bulldogs were outmatched by the Independence Patriots and fell 70-32. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Patriots are ranked 32nd).

Independence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Barnes out in front who went 5-for-6 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Jaxson Neely was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points and six boards.

Butler's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Independence, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Butler nor Independence have any future games scheduled.
