Baseball Recap: King Takes a Loss

The matchup between King and West Oso on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The King Brahmas lost 14-8 to the West Oso Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 last Thursday.

Samuel Gomez put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

Gomez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylon Everett, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The dominant performance gave Everett a new career-high in hits. Brayden Munoz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

King is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. As for West Oso, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

King will be playing in front of their home fans against John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. King has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for West Oso, they will head out to square off against Rockport-Fulton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
