Volleyball Recap: Hayden Takes a Loss

Hayden lost against Emporia back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Hayden started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Hailey Schmidtlein paced Hayden's offense, picking up 12 kills. Schmidtlein got some help from Blakely Walter and her 31 assists.

Molly Williams went supernova For Emporia., getting 21 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 14-2. As for Emporia, their victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8.

Hayden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Bishop Miege on the 27th. As for Emporia, they are taking a road trip to challenge Ottawa at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
