Soccer Game Preview: New Hope vs. Hokes Bluff

The New Hope Indians will head out to face off against the Hokes Bluff Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. New Hope is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

New Hope took a nine-goal loss the last time they faced off against Priceville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. New Hope beat Priceville by a goal, winning 2-1. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Bulldogs on their pitch since March 9, 2021.

Galvin Ingold and Timothy Gordon scored both of New Hope's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Hokes Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Pell City, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Panthers are ranked 33rd).

New Hope is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. Hokes Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

New Hope might still be hurting after the 6-2 defeat they got from Hokes Bluff in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can New Hope avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
