Baseball Game Preview: Hanford Bullpups vs. Dinuba Emperors

Hanford is 7-1 against Dinuba since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bullpups will host the Emperors at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Hanford turned things around against Lemoore on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bullpups have posted since March 19th.

Hayden Keeney was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hanford is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11 otherwise. Keeney was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Keeney wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Thane Herman, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Dinuba gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Mission Oak 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Emperors have posted against the Hawks since March 31, 2023.

With the victory, Dinuba broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-17. As for Hanford, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Everything went Hanford's way against Dinuba in their previous meeting back in March, as Hanford made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Bullpups have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Emperors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
