Softball Recap: Lyndon Tigers vs. Mission Valley Vikings

Lyndon extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 20-8 to the Mission Valley Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Monday.

Tara Findlay and Alina Wiley did some serious damage despite the final result: Findlay went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Wiley went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kynley Moore, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

As for Mission Valley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season.

On Mission Valley's side, Annie Bryan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Bryan a new career-high. Kailynn Jacobson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lyndon is set to square off against their familiar foe Council Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mission Valley will take on rival Osage City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 1.8, the Indians 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
