Softball Recap: Camp Verde Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Camp Verde won the last time they faced Glendale Prep Academy and things went their way on Monday too. Camp Verde was the clear victor by a 26-5 margin over Glendale Prep Academy. Considering the Cowboys have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Aislynn Mulcaire made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine games.

In other batting news, Camp Verde got a massive performance out of Haygen Armstrong, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Armstrong has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Clancy Murdock, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.

Camp Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .523. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Camp Verde is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. Glendale Prep Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Camp Verde will head out on the road to face off against Red Rock at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kingman Academy at 3:45 p.m.
