Preview: Round Valley Elks vs. Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets
The Round Valley Elks will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Round Valley fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Fountain Hills 51-7 on the road.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge entered their tilt with Show Low with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Blue Ridge didn't even let Show Low onto the board and left with a 30-0 win on Friday.
Blue Ridge relied on the efforts of Karlo Harris, who rushed for 95 yards on only nine carries, and Luke Berlin, who threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Blue Ridge also got help from David Simmons who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Round Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Blue Ridge, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Round Valley against Blue Ridge in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Round Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
