Basketball Recap: Buffalo Island Central Comes Up Short

Buffalo Island Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 61-49 to the East Poinsett County Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Warriors are ranked 50th).

Jacob Gaines was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards for East Poinsett County. With that strong performance, Gaines is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Eli Blagg was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Buffalo Island Central's record now sits at 4-12. As for East Poinsett County, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Corning the next time they take the court. East Poinsett County will head out to face Corning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Buffalo Island Central will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
