Football Recap: Wharton Wildcats vs. Plant Panthers
Wharton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 67-21 defeat at the hands of the Plant Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Panthers are ranked 75th).
Although Wharton took the loss, they still got scores from Trevon Garden, Woo Greene, and Duke Corley.
Jc Mirasola continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Plant, throwing for 327 yards and eight touchdowns. Plant is 4-1 when Mirasola posts 300 or more passing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Cristian Peirats also helped out as he racked up 103 receiving yards.
Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Plant, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Plant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bartow at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plant knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Bartow likes a good challenge.
