Basketball Game Preview: Buckeye Trail Warriors vs. Martins Ferry Purple Riders

The Buckeye Trail Warriors will head out to face off against the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye Trail will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Buckeye Trail didn't have too much trouble with Tuscarawas Central Catholic as they won 50-33. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Saints are ranked 795th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Martins Ferry had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 57-50 win over Cambridge on Friday.

Martins Ferry's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Buckeye Trail, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Buckeye Trail suffered a grim 57-36 defeat to Martins Ferry in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Buckeye Trail avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
