Baseball Recap: Greeneview Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Greeneview extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-4 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Mechanicsburg Indians. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Greeneview's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Max Penrod, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Greeneview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

As for Mechanicsburg, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Greeneview since on Thursday.

On Mechanicsburg's side, Colton Walborn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. Walborn has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chris Ritchie was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Crew Lafary, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Greeneview will face off against Northeastern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mechanicsburg, they will take on West Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
