Baseball Recap: Strawberry Crest Gets the Win

Strawberry Crest was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Plant City on Friday. The Strawberry Crest Chargers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Plant City Raiders a 10-0 shutout. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Brisen Tweedy's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Dillon Knight was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Nico Cappucci also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory got Strawberry Crest back to even at 2-2. As for Plant City, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Strawberry Crest will host Armwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plant City, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against King at 11:00 a.m. Plant City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so King's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
