Los Alamitos (Calif.) is back in a familiar place — atop the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National High School Softball Rankings.
The Griffins, who play arguably the toughest schedule of any team in the country, are the defending MaxPreps national champions. They are 9-0 this season and have won 22 in a row over two seasons.
The Orange County powerhouse moved into the stop spot after Canyon (New Braunfels, Texas), last week's No. 1, dropped to No. 5.
Unbeaten Johnson (San Antonio) moved up to second as former No. 3 King (Riverside, Calif.) dropped out of the Top 25 after a pair of defeats.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.), Marist (Chicago), Hurricane (W.Va.), Keller (Texas), Katy (Texas), Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) and Land ‘O Lakes (Fla.).
