Baseball Game Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Cornerstone Christian Patriots

The Euclid Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Cornerstone Christian Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Euclid came up short against Brooklyn and fell 6-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Shockey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Malik Abdul-Wali made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Euclid's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-13 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian lost 8-1 to Cardinal on Friday.

Euclid's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Euclid might still be hurting after the 17-4 defeat they got from Cornerstone Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
